A few absolute beginners questions about MS Project

Once again I have been suddenly tossed into a project involving technology I
have no exposure to. I have to write a Dot Net 2.0 VB Winforms program that
will probably have to access Project data in some fashion (templates I
believe). I have installed MS Project 2003 on my machine.

My first step when I get home will undoubtedly be to rush to the library and
try to find a copy of Project for Dummies but for now, is there any sort of
an SDK that I need to download?

Any and all helpful suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks.

Actually the entire project is going to VB/Dot Net 2.0. My understanding is
that I will have to write code to extract data from a Project 2003 'template'
(an access file so far as I know) and use it to populate SQL Server 2000
tables. The specs are still very fuzzy.
