A hard return bounces cursor to bottom of page

Recently my word 2000 bounces to the bottom of the page with a hard return.
The task bar on the bottom of the screen says it's on line two. I
disinstalled and reinstalled...excel and notepad do not have this problem, so
I'm guessing it not my hard drive. Could it be that I lost the or a dirver
for the application?

It's nothing that nasty, just a wrong layout setting in Word. Look in
File > Page Setup, on the Layout tab. The Vertical Alignment box
probably says Justified. Change it to Top and then click the Default
button at the bottom of the dialog.

By the way, the next time something strange happens in Word, DON'T
uninstall and reinstall. At least 99% of the time that won't fix
anything. Instead, look at the web site listed in my signature, or ask
a question here.
