A note about Apache and UNIX

Got this from my hosting company.
Thought I'd post it in case folks start
posting with "Apache/UNIX"
FTP problems.

This message is regarding the use of FTP programs. Future server security
updates will no longer support the 'active mode' setting used in older FTP
clients. For security reasons, this is being phased out in favor of the
'passive mode' setting which will be the new standard. Most FTP programs
already use the 'passive mode' setting by default.

To Summarize:

- If you are having problems connecting to FTP, make sure your program is
set to 'passive mode'. This setting is most commonly found in the FTP
properties.

- This also affects other programs, like Dreamweaver, that use the FTP
protocol in order to publish. They can also be tweaked in order to use
'passive mode'.

- Even Internet Explorer can be used with the 'passive mode' setting.
