A program still has file attachment <subject of email> open....

I get this error message when changing from one email to another when using
Outlook 2003. "A program still has file attachment <Subject of Email> open.
Changes to this document will be lost unless you save your changes to another
file by clicking the File menu in the other program, and then clicking Save
As." There is only an OK button after the message. The machine is running
Office 2003 Professional Enterprise Edition, and Windows XP Pro.

And the problem is?

That warning is normal when you open an attachment from a message in preview
and leave it open, then go to read another message. If you save and close
the attachment first, the copy attached to the message is updated with
anychanges you make. If you move to another message first, the attachment is
not updated and you need to use the file's save as menu to save changes.

And do you have an attachment open or not? If you close it or save it, the
message will go away.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, jhamoline asked:

Sorry, I forgot to include this...The email does not have an attachment. This
seems to happen randomly - no other programs are open, just outlook.
