A question about merging

I have a column containing money amounts, i.e. $45,789.99 etc. I am
attempting to merge this column of data into a MS Word document. The
amount merges fine, but the $ sign and comma do not merge. Am I missing
something?

One way to do this is to use a Numeric Picture switch in Word's
merge field.

See "Numeric Picture (\#) field switch" in Word Help.

For example:

{MERGEFIELD Field1 \# "0.000" }
