A re-post... Genuine? Chinese knockoff? Unintelligible pop-ups

I bought a copy of Office 2007 Pro on eBay. The seller turned out to be from
Japan, not L.A. like the ad said. It arrived in a slim box - not the yellow
swivel box. The box was labeled OEM and said there was no software inside.
However, there was software inside in a paper sleeve. The software works
fine. The software even passed the MS genuine validation test.

So, you're wondering whats the problem? Well, I have a blue star on my tool
bar. When I hover over it, four rectangles and the word "Office" show up.
When I click it, I am directed to a site that is in Chinese. I also get a
message that pops up on my screen from time to time. It is in Chinese for
the most part.

First of all, is this a very good pirate copy? If not, how do I get rid of
the pop up message and the blue star?

eBay is always a gamble....

You need to contact the vendor. If the vendor has disappeared or in
prison or has died, I suggest you should consider your investment in
EBAY product as an expensive way to become streetwise and learn from the
experience to be careful in the future.

Hope this helps.

You could indeed be right. If it is a bogus copy, it's an expensive lesson
learned. However, is this a legit copy if it passes the MS validation test?
Could it be a legit copy that was destined for foreign use? If it is, I
don't know what to do about the pop-ups.

Does anyone know what I've got and what I should do?
