A system error occurred ...

I'm trying to install MS Access 97 - SR2 on a Windows XP load and am
getting the following error message consistently...

"A SYSTEM ERROR OCCURRED, OR THERE ISN'T ENOUGH FREE MEMORY TO START
MICROSOFT ACCESS"

Now this is the only program that gives me this message. I can install
Word 2000 or Excel 2000 and launch them, but not Access97. I've tried
to increase the virtual memory all the way to its limit, but still get
this message.

Was wondering if anyone had encountered this situation and could
advise me how to proceed... thanks so much
