A thumbnail appears in Word

Every time I go to Word I see a thumbnail view of my pages on the left hand
side of the screen. Never seen this before and not sure how I got there.
How do I get rid of these thumbnails

View > Thumbnails...

I looked in View about 20 times and could not see it. Thank you.
