absence of new mail notification in Outlook 2003

Hi!
Does anybody know how to fix the problem with absence of
new mail notification in Outlook 2003 (OS Windows XP
SP1)?
I searched MS KB and found only one (

Hi Eugene,

I have (maybe) the same issue. Mine is regarding rules. If i have a rule turned on, it moves the message etc. but doesn't notify me. If anything goes (and stays) straight in the inbox, then it works. You can change each rule (tools, rules & alerts, then select the message in question, click on change rule then select the display in new item alert window). I found this gets the same result as if it had gone 2 the inbox, but it's a pain and makes rules client side. If you find anything else, let me know!!
