Acc 2007 and OLE Object Error

B

Hi all, been looking at lots of possible fixes for this issue, but can't
pinpoint it yet.

In an acc 2007 table, inserted a bmp into a field that is currently set to
store OLE objects. When in the dialog box browsing to find the image, once it
is found and I double click it to insert it, I get the error:

The operation on the OLE object failed.
The OLE server may not be registered.
To register the OLE server, reinstall it.

I tried some of the solutions I found that were related to earlier versions
of Access, but nothing works. I can insert the same bmp into a Word 2007
document without issue.

I know this is not the best way to insert images, but this is for a college
class and the instructor is following the examples provided in the text. The
students are seeing this error when they try it.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've been stumpted for some time on this.
Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the suggestions.

1) Tried with McAfee on and off, same results.
2) We converted the bmp to jpg and inserted it, same results. Tried a
different bmp, different database, etc. (all the combinations) and same
result.
3) When I double click the bmp on the windows desktop it launched in windows
picture/fax viewer. Changed the association of the bmp to paint and other
photo editing programs and same result.

Now, this is happening in a college campus computer lab and only to some
machines. I tried 2 machines side by side in the room and it works fine in
one and not the other. Using the same database and test bmp file. I am
leaning towards something being different with the installs of office,
although both are complete installs of Office 07. Both machines also have
Project and Visio 2003 installed and the file size of each installed programs
is different on the machines. It works in the half the room and not the other
half.

Thanks for your thoughts, anything else you think of please reply.
