Accepted appointments not posting to calendar

We have Exchange 5.5 server, windows 2000 client, Office 2000 with
Outlook 2000. Problem: a manager accepts a meeting request, the
request moves to his deleted items folder, but doesn't show up on his
calendar. If you open the item in the deleted items folder, it says
that the appointment isn't in the calendar, may have been moved or
deleted. i can then click accept again from the deleted items, and
the meeting will be accepted and post to the calendar. has anyone
else ever seen this? My users used to tell me this all the time but I
never believed it was true, then the exact same thing just happened to
me with I meeting I know I did accept the first time. Thanks in
