Access 2000 compatibility with Access 2002

I am currently working on databases which were developed
in Access 97, converted to 2000 they are all currently in
2000. My company recently purchased a new system for me
which came with XP and Office 2002, since this time my
databases are not working fully. I have had problems
with "program not responding" when trying to open tables.
I tried opening the same table at one of the older
systems and there were no problems. Has anyone else had
problems similar with Databases in 2000 but using 2002??
I would hate to have to delete 2002 and go back to 2000
but I am considering this option.

Any help would be appreciated

try converting database to access 2002 format.
tools>database utilities>convert database>access 2002

Unfortunately converting the database to 2002 isnt an
option due to other users with old systems that need
access to the databases, I am the DBA with full rights,
the other users have write/read only. I dont believe 2000
will allow what they need to do if the dba's are
converted to 2003. I'm trying not to have to uninstall
office 2002.

Access 2002 normally has no problems with Access 2000 databases; in fact
it uses the Access 2000 file format by default. So the problem is
unlikely to be with Access 2002 as such, more likely with something
about your computer or the installation of Access on it.

Is this an intermittent problem (i.e. happens with any of these
databases, but not every time) or a regular one (happens all the time
with some or all databases)? If regular, are all these databases
affected? If not, what distinguishes the ones that are?

Possibly it's a network or permissions problem. Does it make any
difference if you copy the database to your local drive?

Does Access 2002 let you create and manipulate new databases in Access
2002 format?

Are these databases split? If so, is the path to the back end the same
on your machine and the others?

Do these databases contain VBA code or macros that runs when they open?
If so, disable it/them and see what happens.

Exactly what happens when you try to open a database?

John, there is little to no VB in any of the databases,
is what happens when I go to the backside of the
databases and try to open a table it locks up and is non
responsive. This seems to happen to all 13 of the
databases I manage, I have tried copying them to my local
drive and experience the same problem. I have made sure
it is defaulting to 2000. Our network is pretty straight
forward and all paths are the same to the drive. It is
possible there may have been a problem at the time office
was loaded and I will double check that with my IT
department tomorrow. I appreciate your input and help.
