I have just replaced some old win98 machines with new winXP Pro SP2 machines
on a SBS2000 network. I then installed existing copies of MSO2000 Pro as
administrator, installed all recommended updates etc from microsoft.com
The problem I have is when I try to open access via a desktop shortcut or by
double clicking the file on a network drive I get the following error:
Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product microsoft office 2000
sr-1 disc 2. Windows installer cannot continue. I press OK then get a message
that states fatal error installing.
However, if I first open access and then navigate to the database I want to
open, it works fine?
This is ok for me as an admin, but I don't want users navigating to the file
in that manner.
How can I fix this (btw..when installing office I selected ALL items to run
from my computer).
