Access 2000 Project - Can't edit table

P

Paul

For several months I have been using Access 2000 to
manage a remote SQL Server database utilized by my web
site. It has been working quite well until yesterday.

I can still view, add and delete data, and can see data
in a View.

It will not allow me to add a new table or edit an
existing table's structure. It returns the error "You do
not have exclusive access to this database at this time.
Your changes will not be saved." Then sometimes Access
disappears. Other times it goes ahead and shows the
design view, but then says "Invalid object
name 'tablename'" when I try to save.

Something has caused my system to lose several DLL and
OCX files. I have run NAV scans and found no viruses. The
power supply was just changed before this happened and so
that is a suspect, though I don't know what it would have
done.

Every time I open apps written in VB6 that utilize
Office, it would try to reinstall Office. One app was
totally shot and had to be uninstalled. During the
procedure, 21 DLL and 3 OCX files were listed
as 'couldn't be deleted because they no longer exist.'I
had to reinstall Norton AntiVirus too.

Today I re-installed SR-1 with no effect. Then I
completely uninstalled and reinstalled Office, then SR-1
again. No change.

I rely on this link every day. Please help me figure out
what has happened.

Thank you.
Paul

Try cleaning your office installation with Windows Installer Cleanup utility
OFFXP: "Error 1612" Error Message When You Try to Install or Remove Service
Pack 1
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325084

Then reinstall office

IMPORTANT: I would perform the above with my anti virus software
uninstalled (not just disabled)

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.
