access 2000 to access 97

If i produce all my work in access 2000, can i then
convert it back to 97. in doing this will all work i have
carried out be saved. or should i convert the database as
soon as i open up a new database and caarry out all my
work there.

I am worried that all the data that will be entered will
be lost as i know i will have to enter alot of information/
