ACCESS 2000 won't install on XP

When trying to install the CD on new DELL XP home edition I get the following
error: Setup failed to locate a valid qualifying product on your machine."
I am totally at my wits end. I have to have this on my home computer and
cannot get it installed on this computer. This DELL was bought from DELL and
did not come with Microsoft Excel, Word, or anything like that. What am I to
do? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

That message indicates that your copy of Access 2000 is an upgrade copy.
While trying to install you need to find your copy of Office 97 (or any part
thereof), place it in your CD/DVD drive and when it looks for a qualifying
product point it to your CD/DVD drive.
