Access 2002 shut down on query save

J

Justin_P

Please help I have recently noticed that my Access mdb
file is not always retaining the details of a query that
has been set up.

Today I created a new query which runs and produces
results but when saving the query Access shuts down
without any error messages, just closes. The query is
still in the database but only in terms of the name of the
query there as an object in the query view of the database
window. If I open the query in design view there are no
details to display in the design, switching to sql view
reveals just a 'select;' statement as it would when
starting a new query.

Please help....

Regards

Justin

Hi Justin,

It sounds like corruption. Try using JetComp.exe (see: ACC2000: Jet
Compact Utility Available in Download Center
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=273956)

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

Just a wild guess, but ACCESS crashing when trying to make query changes
etc. is one of the many symptoms that may be displayed by the "Name
AutoCorrect" bug! Go to the database, click Tools | Options | General, and
deselect the Name AutoCorrect option. See if that fixes this problem.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the tip, have had a look at the KB article and
just wanted to check that this utility (JetComp.exe) is ok
to use with Access 2002?

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately this didnt have
any effect.

Am proceeding with the second post, from Eric on possibly
using JetComp.

Justin

Hi Ken,

In JetComp.exe there's an option to choose version 3.x or 4.x

Access 97 = 3.x
Access 2000 and above = 4.x
