Access 2003/2007 on same machine causes Initialization screen WITH

Hi. I have Access 2003 and 2007 on the same machine. Whenever I switch
between these two versions, I keep getting that well known
Initialization/re-install screen. Is there a solution for this?

Now I felt for sure that Microsoft would not let this issue go unaddressed
for SP1, but....

I have just installed SP1 for Office 2007. It looks like the amount of time
that I have to wait is less, but this issue still happens. That is a
disappointment.

Please tell me that there is a solution for this! Any work around for this
is appreciated! Thank you.

This happens between Word 2003 and Word 2007 as well.

If you have a high-spec PC, Virual PC can be a good solution. I only have
Office 2007 installed on my 'real' PC, I use Virtual PC to run earlier
versions.

Please provide us with any work around that there is.

1. Is there an adjustment that can be made to the registry?

2. Is there a planned hotfix for this?

3. Is there anything else that can be done short of installing 3rd party

1. Not that I know of, and I think I probably would have heard if there was,
as the problem has been quite widely discussed.

2. Not that I know of, but as a general rule Microsoft tend not to announce
hotfixes before they are available. The last I heard, the improvements in
SP1 were the planned fix, but as I say, Microsoft may have other plans that
I don't know about.

3. I'm not aware of any third party solutions. If you meant Virtual PC,
that's not a third party solution, Microsoft own it now.

By the way, you don't really need a "super high spec PC" to run Virtual PC.
You do need a reasonably high spec PC, and lots of RAM, as you need enough
for both the 'real' PC and the virtual one.

I have been having similar problems, made even worse by the fact that my
Access 2003 database just won't run when I have 2007 installed, the reference
is to the wrong library, and I can't fix it so i have decided to go with the
virtual PC. Seems a lot of extra work just to run all microsoft software, but
I can't get the office 11 library to install, and the office 12 one can't be
deselected.
I do have one more possibly silly question.
I am running Vista, and have just installed windows XP in the virtual PC. Do
I need to have another copy of internet security installed in the virtual PC,
or will the Vista installation take care of security issues for me. As I am
really only running 1 computer, I dion't want the extra expense of another
copy of internet security.

I'm really not sure how that works myself. I would imagine that if we don't
use the virtual machine for downloading e-mail or browsing the web, or other
potentially risky activities, we should be relatively safe. But I'd be
interested to hear other's thoughts and experience?
