Access 2003 and Excel 2002

I am starting a New Client Project. The Client currently has Access 2003
and Exel 2002 (Office XP w/o Access) installed on his WinXP Pro Workstation.

I will be porting Many/All of his Excel Files to Access. I see some point
in the project that I will be using equivalent of ODBC Connection between
the two programs to minimize redundant data entry.

Is this an Acceptible Configuration OR should I have him Upgrade Office XP
OR Down Version Access 2003.
