Hi,

I am having a random problem with Access 2003. When working inside ou
inventory database it will crash after entering between 5 and 10 item
or if switching fields.

I never get an error code all I get is "Microsoft Office Access ha
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the
information you were working on might be lost. _ Restart Microsof
Office Access"

I am running Access 2003 Pro with SP3 on XP. I can force it to erro
so I am not really sure what is going on.

I really could use some help on this one. I have tried detect an
repair and compacting the database.

Thanks,

Sara

Did this used to work? What has changed?

You will probably need to install a hotfix to fix problems that might
have been caused by Access or Office SP3.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945674

Otherwise you can create a new .mdb and import all objects from your
problematic one. Make sure to also reenter any database properties
used in the original .mdb (such as application title and icon), and
set up any references used in VBA. Recompile the VBA. Rename the
new .mdb to the old name. Save a copy before you compact and repair.

Good luck!

I followed the instruction provided by deepPowdah:

Specifically, the database I was working with was an older MS Acces
database that had been updated thru several versions. Our programmin
standards were to use vbNullString instead of "". It turns out tha
Microsoft did not handle the use of vbNullString properly when th
database was updated.

If you are using vbNullStrings, the resolution is simple, do a find an
replace of a clean copy of the database. That completely resolved th
problems we were having.

This fixed everything thank you
