Access 2003 on two machines: why two different dialog boxes?

My laptop and desktop both have what reports in Help|About as the same
version of Access 2003.

An Append info dialog box on the desktop comes up reading "You are about to
run an append query that will modify data in your table. Are you sure you
want to run this type of action query? For information on turning off
confirmation messages for document deletions, click Help." It also has a
Show Help >> button. This button just showed up recently, though I can't tie
it to any change I'm aware of on the system.

The same action on the same database on my laptop produces a dialog box that
comes up reading the same, but it has no Show Help >> button.

These machines supposedly have the same Office Updates and the same Windows
XP Pro Windows Updates. I can't see any differences in Access Tools|Options.

Why do these two machines exhibit different dialog boxes under otherwise
apparently identical circumstances? What can I do to get both machines back
to the same configuration?
