I have uninstalled access 2003 runtime but every time I start Access 2007 I
get a message stating that it is installing MS Access 2007 which is followed
by Microsoft office is configuring access 2007. It does this every time I

Hello,

This message is shown for the when you are using the application for the 1st time after installation.

Kindly let the system complete the installation once. "Do not click on cancel".

Once the installation is completed this message window will not appear again.
It may ask you for the MS-Office CD in between if it does not find the necessary files. Just insert the CD and your work should be done.

Try it. :)

Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Office 2007 uses a new approach to how it's installed. Anytime you switch
back and forth between Access 2003 and Access 2007, you'll experience the
reinstallation. (It doesn't matter runtime or full version, since they're
actually the same executable)

SP1 reduced the time the reinstallation takes, but it's still there.

This problem will not go away in Office 2010, btw.

But the OP said they uninstalled Access 2003 runtime. Why would 2007
keep needing to reconfigured? Maybe Access 2007 also needs to be
uninstalled and reinstalled?

You might need to run Access 2007 once from an administrator account
so it can update the registry.

Ooops. You're right. I missed the part that 2003 had been uninstalled: I
thought they were co-existing
