Access 2003 w/ User Level Security - NOT WORKING

N

Nick Coppola

Hello,

I have an Access 2003 that uses user-level security. Here's what I did...

1. Moved the DB and MDW to the directory on the Vista/Access 2007 machine
2. Added the directory to the Trust Center locations
3. Open database...

Issue #1: Access 2007 thinks my user has a password when it doesn't. A user
of the same name may have already existed - can this create a conflict?

Issue #2: Access 2007 objects no longer have owners all say unknown.
Issue #3: Access 2007 cannot change ownership to intended user
Issue #4: Access 2007 cannot swtich to Admin and do the above
Issue #5: Access 2007 cannot change ownership at the DB level

.... negative comments about Access and Access 2007 omitted ...

Please help...

Thanks,

- Nick

How did you open the database?
Issue #1: Access 2007 thinks my user has a password when it doesn't. A
user

No.

Issue #2: Access 2007 objects no longer have owners all say unknown.

You are using the wrong mdw file.
Issue #3: Access 2007 cannot change ownership to intended user

You are using the wrong mdw file; therefore you aren't logged in as a user
with sufficient permissions to change the owner.
Issue #4: Access 2007 cannot swtich to Admin and do the above

Admin should never have enough permission to do anything
Issue #5: Access 2007 cannot change ownership at the DB level

Again, wrong mdw file, wrong user, and you can't change the database owner
via the dialogs.
