Access 2007 conversion problem

I have an application that was developed under Access 2003.

We purchased Access 2007 and loaded it on our pc - 2 gig memory and a intel
xeon processor, running vista.

Upon opening our application (split database), the main form asks for a
query parameter (EntryHeaderID) 2 times and then brings up the main form. It
takes about 2 minutes to bring up the main form. I have never seen this
error before - does not happen under Access 2003.

Clicking on the office button takes a minute or more, it just seems that
everything about 2007 is soooo slow.

Is there anything we need to do to get this to work properly? I have set
all folders as trusted. This application works wonderfully in Access 2003
but not usable under 2007. It seems it is not only our application, but
Access 2007 as a whole.

I have the book Step by Step by Microsoft but I have not found a solution to
this problem.

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated! I'm obviously missing something (was
hoping to load Access 2007 and be able to run our application slicker than .
.. . ha)
