access 2007 is slow

I have the same problem with access 2007 on my computers. I have the problem
on EVERY computer I have both with converted databases and ones I have
created in 2007. These are simple databases, they take minutes to open,
minutes to go from one field to the next, often freeze up take minutes to
close. I get frequent errors that force a backup, it opens in read only on
occassion. I am just at a loss as to what to do to improve this situation.
Access 2002 never gave me this headache.

First things I'd look at would be:
- The free memory on the computers. You need a lot.
- Run good, updated spyware and virus programs.
- For testing purposes turn off the virus programs and see what happens. In
the past many people excluded .md* files from scanning; however A07 uses
..accdb for its databases.

Is this on Windows Vista machines? Over a network or locally? If
Windows Vista and networked see the Access 2007 design view
