Access 2007 must configure each startup

Have Office 2007 Ultimate. All programs start and run properly except Access
which demands that it configure itself each time it starts. Using a clean
install of Windows 7. Running in compatibility mode as xp sp3 speeds it up a
little but it still gives configuration windows. When it finally comes up it
works, but takes a long time. All other Office modules are working just fine.
What's the fix??

Many of the performance problems are solved with the service packs. Do you
have them installed?

Yes, I had sp2 installed-actually the install had in incorporated. I
uninstalled Office, restarted, ran a couple different registry cleaners, used
Regedit to clear out some registry entries for Access that the cleaners
didn't get, restarted, ran the cleaners again, restarted and reinstalled
Office. Same situation. Earlier today I actually came up with a fix although
I don't know how long it will last. With Office installed I ran the CD and
asked it to make changes--in this case I marked Access to install upon first
use. The program ran and asked for a restart. Did so and then ran Access.
Came up with install and configure windows but different from the previous
windows and then Access appeared. Quit and restarted and Access ran properly.
Restarted the computer and again it ran properly, then ran registry cleaners
and again restarted and it was still starting properly, so perhaps the
solution for others is to install it such that it installs upon first use??
Thanks for your assistance.

There must have been some other problem that you cured when you uninstalled
and ran the registry cleaners. I always install everything (not typical
install ...Everything) and have never had a problem like that. Installing on
first use can also only be done it you leave the install files on the
computer.

Well humm. I had installed, deleted, and cleaned registry a couple of times
before giving the install on first use trick a try. I don't know. What I know
is that it shouldn't have been doing this, and MS should have some fix for
this because in researching this problem it seems that a lot of people have
encountered a similar issue.
