Access 2007 won't run

E

Ernie Lippert

I have been running Office 2003 under XP for some time. Access 2003 runs
fine. In July I downloaded Office 2007. Access 2000, Accesss 2003, and Acces
2007 worked with no problems. I recently downloaded Adobe PS4. Since that
time Access 2007 would not run.

The message obtained was:

"X Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not
have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

Attempts to repair were unsucessful.

I then uninstalled Windows 2007, cleaned the registry, and downloaded
Windows 2007. Using my key, I reinstalled Windows 2007. Office 2007 and its
components work except Access 2007. The message above continues to appear.
Please give me your suggestion or solution.

I don't think you can get answers here. Some of them are successful but some
are not. MS doesn't support multiple office installation. Even if you post it
MS monitored forum I don't think you can get answers.

Have you post it to Adobe forum? Might get help from them.

Never heard of Windows 2007 Operating System or are you refering to Windows 7?

My mistake. Windows 2007 should read Office 2007. If MS does not support
multiple office installations, why did Access 2007 run before I installed
Adobe PS4?

As I said, you're one of those lucky ones I guess.

Here's a site from Allan Browne. But it's on Vista/Windows 7, would be also
in XP.

There some complaints already even in Windows XP especially if the install is
base on default installation locations. Custom installation (into different
folders) seems to solve the problems as some of them claim it works but
nobody is certain for sure. It could an update from MS windows security for
XP or something that trigger the security setting when you install Adobe?

Here's from MS site on how to install multiple version in one computer. It's
not you can't install multiple versions and you're on your own if there are
problem (what ever error). It's just that they don't support the idea.
