Access 2007

Andy

I have a database created in access 2000. When using access 2007 the
database is very slow. Clicking on command buttons and tabbed pages. The
database has been converted to access 2007.
Thanks for your help

Does your PC have the "horsepower" to run Access 2007 applications?

Might I ask how much more "horsepower" is needed to run Access 2007
than Access 2003?

Check the Microsoft.com website for suggested hardward configuration to run
Vista and/or Office 2007 applications. As I recall, the Office 2007 runs on
current XP machines, and ...? (check the site for specs).

The reason I ask is that I, too, work with a highly programmed Access
database (some 15,000 lines of VBA code, much of it automating data
entry on forms -- and believe me, it's very tight code). In Access 97,
2000, 2002, and 2003, no performance problems. However, when I open
the same database in Access 2007, it's as slow as molasses. Data
trickles onto the form instead of an immediate display in Access 2003.
This happens regardless of whether I keep the Access 2002-2003 file
format or convert it to Access 2007. And yes, I do have the necessary
1 GB RAM. And I'm not using Office 2007 Beta.

I'm beginning to notice more threads complaining of Office 2007
performance problems. Most often they seem to be tied to VBA code
execution. What is the mistake we're all making?

I'll suggest you visit the AccessJunkie.com and www.AllenBrowne websites.
Jeff Conrad and Allen Browne have spent extensive time working with Access
2007.

FYI - I'm seeing similar behavior, an access application with lots of VBA and
it runs like a dog under Access 2007 - with plenty of computer horsepower.
