When I open the Smart Tags dialog box there are no smart tags listed. The
textbook I am using said there should be 3 ready-to-use tags there. (Date,
Financial, & Person Name)
How can I add them to the dialog box? There is a button "More Smart Tags"
but that just takes me to Microsoft Marketplace where there are tags for
sale. I don't see the Microsoft ready-to-use tags there.

Don't know why you're not showing the three standard Smart Tags. I do, in
v2003, but on the site you mentioned, in addition to the third party
providers, there is a link to Smart Tags Microsoft offers in the first
paragraph. The link just doesn't really make itself obvious, but it's the
line below that I've marked with asterisks:

Save time by using smart tags to perform actions. Smart tags make it easier
for you to complete some of the most common Office tasks and provide you with
more control over automatic features. For example, adding a name to a
Microsoft Outlook Contacts folder is one action that might be taken with a
person name smart tag. For more information about smart tags, please click
here. Below you will find smart tags provided by external providers. In
addition, ***you can find smart tags developed by Microsoft.***

If you place your cursor there the link will appear.
