I am trying to find out if Access 97 comes with the BarcodeWiz Class ActiveX
Control as part of the poriginal product. Or do I have to purchase something
additional?

hi,
what are you trying to do?
I used 97 to barcode all of our shipping and receiving lables and didn't
have to use anything special except for the barcode readers.

I am trying to do the very same thing. I want to create Code 39 barcode
labels via access. I believe you need to Insert the BarcodeWiz Class ActiveX
Control to do so (i.e., Insert->ActiveX Control... Select BarcodeWiz Class).
Unfortunately, it is not in my list of ActiveX Controls here at work. I
believe that our Big Brother IS department believes this is either something
we should not need or something we should not use. I will need to request
our corporate office to add it and I want to know if it is part of the
original package. If it is, then I need to purchase nothing.

Do you know if Access 97 originally has this capability or must you purchase
something additional? If so, what. This will be a different type of
conflict for me.

Thanks,

Access does not come with any tools for printing bar codes in reports
however there are a number of 3rd party ActiveX controls that would
make the job easy.
The best one on the market is from TAL Technologies.
You can download a demo version of their bar code ActiveX control from
the following web page:
http://www.taltech.com/products/activex_barcodes.html

The demo version of the TAL Bar Code ActiveX control comes with a
sample Access database containing several reports with bar codes on
them as well as a report containing instructions on how to use the
control in an Access database.
