Have a new laptop with XP. Want to install Access 97.
Using Word, Excel and Publisher 2002, and also have
successfully installed Home Publishing 2000. Do not have
any version of Access now.

Should I just go ahead and try to install Access 97?

Unless you have a SP2 copy of Access, you should
definitely uninstall Office XP, clean of any remaining
office XP components, then install Access 97, THEN
Office 97 Service Pack 2,
Then office XP.

Unfortunately, the service pack is difficult to
install if you have another version of office
installed.

Unless perhaps all you want A97 for is the help files :)

Interesting.

FWIW on my laptop I purchased a year ago I deliberately installed
Office XP, then A97 then A2000. And all the SRs and SPs. The only
problem I was the standard A97 license problem.

You got SR2 to install with another copy of MSACCESS.EXE
already on your PC? I'm using Microsoft Office 97 SR2b Update
4.71.1015.0 on Office 97 SR1 -- what have you got?

Yup, A97 is at SR2.

Ummm, I would think so but can't be sure exactly which version of SR2
I used to update it as that was last fall.
