Access 97 mde database

Jack Youle

I'm replacing a Win98 computer that uses an Access 97 mde database. Will I
need to install Access 97 on the new WinXP computer in order to run the
Access 97 mde database or will newer versions of Access be able to run the
mde database? Are there other ways of using this old database on the new PC
without attempting to convert it (I don't have the original mdb files)?

Thanks,

Jack

You cannot convert an MDE (nor can you convert it back to an MDB)

I believe you will need Access 97 in order to be able to use the MDE.

Doug is correct. An Access97 MDE file cannot be opened or converted by
Access2000/2002/XP/2003. You will need Access97 to run it.
