Access 97 on P4 Computers

At our institution, we had a large number of Access 97
client/server apps working well when using Win98 and PII
computers. We are updating most of the PC's to P4's BUT
must still retain Win98 on most PC's - some are running
WinXP. (At this stage changing all PC's to WinXP or
changing to Access XP is not an option.) As we are using
a Novell network, I am trying to determine where the
problem is.

Has anyone experienced a speed decrease in Access 97
application loading when changing from a PII to a P4 but
retaining Win98 ? With WinXP there is no problem.

Thanks

Peter

There is a known problem with Novell and Acc2000.
There is also a known problem with many new computers and Win98 that the
machine is too fast for the OS. You have to check on the mainboard
manufacturer's web site.
I had a problem with the new Intel boards and Win98, Windows was freezing
every five minutes for a few secondes. It was resolved with a change in the
Bios.
Check this option.
