Access 97 under Win XP ?

R

Rebecca

Is anyone running Access 97 under Win XP.
Does it run unchanged or only in 'compatibilty mode'?
Any problems, concerns?
Any problems accessing data on servers running Win 2003?

Thanks for your input.

Acess 97 will run under Windows XP. Make sure that you
install Access 97 prior to installing the XP Office
software.

And can I assume that Access 2000 runs fine under Win XP
too?

Yes. When installing ensure you install into different directories
and don't let Access delete previous versions.

There are some programs out there which will automatically start the
appropriate version of Access.

One of those is ACCVER - Allows you to work with multiple versions of
MS Access databases. Detects the version of Access used to create your
MDB, MDE or MDA files and either reports the version number or starts
the appropriate version of MS Access. www.aylott.com.au/software.htm

I run both A97 and A2K on XP Pro. The only problem I can see (and this is
for both versions) is that when working in design view one often can not
select/grab objects in the various windows (database, query, etc.) unless
the window is first resized or moved.
I don't think it is my installation because I initially thought it was
because I did an upgrade from WinMe and have since done a clean install on a
new hard drive. I also have the same problem at a client site on a brand new
machine.
