Access can't run marco or callback function 'fDesign'

I recently converted several databases from Access 97 to Access 2003. I did
not have this error at the beginning of using Access 2003. I've started
getting this information message on all my databases in the past couple of
weeks.

I'll be working on a query, or a report based on a query in design view,
make a change, run the query, decide that I need another change and click on
View, then click on Design. That is when I get this new error message. I've
been closing the query, choosing to save the changes and then have to reopen
the query in design from the database window.

I guess I'm not great at designing queries because I don't always get the
results I want first time, every time so this error message is rather
annoying if I have to make several adjustments.

I had to set my References to include Microsoft Access 11.0 Object Library a
couple weeks ago, but I think I might have been seeing this message before
that happened.

You must have imported one of MVP Stephen Leban's utilties at some point.

Here is the fix:fDesign is a custom function for a RotateText method. At some point you
have either:

1) Imported my function into your MDB, added a custom Menu Item to call
the function, and now you have deleted the Code module containing the
fDesign function.

2) You have imported the ToolBars from the sample RotateText MDB but not
the code.

If you have not made significant modifications to the native Access
ToolBars then simply:

1. Right-click on the top menu bar and select Customize.

2. On the tab that says "Customize" there is a list of all the menu
bars/toolbars. Check one at a time, and hit the button that says
"Reset."

This will reset all the menu bars/toolbars back to their standard
layout.

I followed your instructions to the letter and now the problem is gone!

I did download several sample databases from the Leban website but have not
tried installing any code into my databases. I did open all the sample
databases to see how they worked. Could just opening the databases have
changed my tool bars? What happens if later I do want to use some of that
code? Will this problem come back, even if I only open the databases? Will
the code work in my databases if I have to reset the toolbars again after I
install?

I am in the middle of converting several old databases and needed help in a
hurry because the company plans to remove Access 97 from all the machines by
EOY. I downloaded the sample database because I figured if I have to convert
perhaps I should also improve.

I'm not completely sure of all the specifics of what code/toolbar referenced
the FDesign code. Stephen would be best to answer on that. It is quite
possible that Stephen has removed that reference from the affected sample
files since the time you downloaded those other files. I'm not sure on that
either. Resetting the toolbars is pretty easy anyway, assuming you do not
make modifications to them (which is a good idea anyway.)
