Access Denied on PWA Site

Hello!

We have a problem with accessing our Project PWA site.

We have 2 seperate WebServer and 2 seperate Application servers. (not
with the same content e.g). Only the Database Server is the same for
both environments.

We have provisioned a new instance on environment 1. Everything works
fine and we can log into the Site.
Then we have also provisioned a new instance on environment 2 with the
Project databases from the environment 1 instance. The provisioning
was successfully.

But:

When we open the site on environment 2 and login with our DomainUser
we get a "Error: Access is denied" message and cannot logon. Only the
Primary Administrator from the Provisioning can log into the site.
At environment 1 we can login with all users.

Environment 1: https://DNS_1/PWA => everybody can login
Environment 2: https://DNS_2/PWA => only the Primary Admin can login

Database: same databases for both instances on the same DB Server

When I create a really new instance on environment 2 everything runs
fine. So it can be a Windows problem bases on the Authentification.

What can I do to resolve this?

Many thanks for your help.

I have added the "Autheticated Users" with Reader (MS Project Server)
rights to the specific instance https://DNS_2/PWA and it is working.

I have seen that in the Permissions for Environment 1 https://DNS_1/PWA
all Project Server users are added with "Readers (MS Project Server)"
rights.
For Environment 2 https://DNS_2/PWA where only set the Primary
Administrator.

Is it normal and how can I prevent this when I create an instance
based on an existing database?

Many thanks for you help.

This is a known issue which is caused when global permissions are set or WSS
security sync'd. The way around it is to add authenticated users to the pwa
root site, as you've just done.

Ok, but I have no other possibility to add these users automatically?

I have seen that some users have "Web Administrator" rights, some have
"Readers" rights. It is nessecarry that these rights are set
correctly, similar to the rights in the Project Server Web Access
Permissions?

Hello Cojo,

We are experiencing a similiar problem. We have two environments a test and
production. The test environment is okay and we have not been able to
recreate the problem in test. The problem is with the production
environment. We have created Costs List within the workspace and once
established modified the permissions. When we exit and return to the
workspace we receive access denied. We are all at the administrative level
and even the SSP Administrator is not able to access these files. Is there a
fix or do you know what we are doing that may be creating the problem? As I
said earlier we are Administrators at the EPM level but are Web
Administrators within the workspace.

Any help or direction you could give us would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
