Access Dev Guide to SQL Server book

This version of the book is for Access 2000. Is there a
new version for Access XP or is XP compatible enough with
2k that it's good enough?

Any other books to recommend for someone who has dealt
with only Access and is now going to move the BE to SQL
2k? Will stay with MDB FE til I get used to working with
the queries and coding of ADP.

Thanks.

There is an Access 2002 Developers Handbook available. You should be able to
find it on Amazon.com.

Andy Baron and Mary Chipman have a book regarding Access and SQL Server that
is very good. The book is entitled, "Microsoft Access Developer's Guide to
SQL Server" published by SAMS.

Be forewarned that using Access against SQL Server is quite different. There
is a learning curve, and it will not be as pleasant and easy as you would
want it to be. The Chipman book will help.

The book you mentioned by Andy Baron and Mary Chipman is
for Access 2000. Is this still compatible if I'm working
with Access XP or is there a newer version of the book
that deals with Access XP?

Hi,

the biggest difference between Access 2000 and 2002 in my eyes is, that Access
2002 has less bugs than 2000 and is "useable".
The "big picture" hasn´t changed at all. Of course there are new things in XP,
as always (pivot tables for example) but the rest hasn´t changed too much (at
least concerning the book) Though for 2000, it´s still one of the best in the
market, even if you use 2002, believe us... I prefere this book to most 2002
books i´ve read.

The book is so important, because it tries to show the various problems from
different views. It shows the "bigger picture" And that hasn´t changed.
