Is that true? Is Access a plinky-plonky office app?
No it's not, but a lot of employers *think* it is because they know nothing
of it except perhaps for a few badly designed so-called databases that some
inexperienced dabblers have thrown together.
Or can business really depend on it for maintaining and entering data with
stability and real results?
Yes they can and do, but only if the app is developed properly in a
professional manner by an experienced developer.
Just playing the devils advocate. I love Access.
Me too. A lot of Oracle-heads slag Access to the hilt but that's their
paranoia and snobbery, they've never actually used Access. I've used Oracle
and what it really lacks is a decent user-interface for the developer.
So ou firmly believe that freelancing is the way to go? How does one
charge for developing? Hourly or by the Job? What are the rates? Thank
you.
I'm a salaried employee in a big corporation and it's not making me rich,
but it is possible to get freelance and contracting work that pays up to £35
per hour. The downside is that the contracts can be short and you'd have to
travel around a bit. Are you just starting out?

Keith.
