Access Error! Unknown

Help! (Sorry, frustration is mounting.)

UP to today everything was fine. Now when I browse to my
website and attempt to edit from Front Page I get an un-
numbered error saying essentially,

"Error accessing Front Page web files. Authors, if
authoring through a server contact webmaster. Webmaster,
review server log for details."

We get this on four different hosted domains at the same
service, on four different computers, one dsl connection,
one vDsl connection and one dial-up without any firewall
or hub in between. I've unloaded and reloaded FP
extensions on the host server and have attempted from 2
versions of FP. Host is at a loss...I'm at a loss and the
Knowledge base doesn't seem tot reference this error.

Any ideas?

This solution was offered by Bette Ann. Thank You!

Ken,

I was having the same problem that you were having but the
webmaster for the web hosting service where I have my
website had the answer.

It seems that Microsoft has a disconnect between their
(latest) version of their browser and FrontPage. You can
no longer edit your website by the old method of (1) open
you website with the browser. (2) Select File. Edit with
Microsoft FrontPage.

Instead, try the following

(1) connect to the internet

(2) close your browser

(3) open Microsoft Front Page

(4) Click "File", "Open" - this will open the "Open
File" window

(5) In the "File Name" field located at the bottom of
the window, type the complete file to your website.
Example:http://www.yourdomain.com

(6) Click on the "Open" button. This will open
the "connect" window (the same window that you are use to
seeing)

(7) Enter your User Name and Password and click the OK
button. The files for your website will be displayed in
the "Open File" window

(8) Click on the button and one of your web pages will
be displayed.

(9) Click on the "Folders" icon and all of your
folders will be displayed and you are in business.

Then the real solution is to just open the web via FP using File Menu | Open Web / Site.

However, I have no problem open a web site via the Edit with FP command in IE 6 under Windows XP
Home, Windows XP Pro w/SP2 applied in FP2003
