Access.exe errs when using cntrl-Alt-delete

We are still running Access 97 to run some reports at the
end of the day, or during our lunch breaks. We are
running windows xp, and office 97 sp2. When we lock our
computers, using the control-Alt-delete sequence and
leave access open, almost every time when we go to log
back in we get the Access.exe error and access has died.
If we don't lock the screen it never errors out. Event
ID 1002, source: Application Hang, Category (101). Here
is the event log:
"Hanging application msaccess.exe, version 8.0.0.5903,
hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address
0x00000000."
