Access jumped in size, but why ? weird meg size

BLUE WATER

Hi,

I have added more records to my access database over the past
few weeks and noticed that the meg. size of the file is huge
compared to before.

In May 2004, the access file size (windows xp, access 2002)
was about 7 Megs with 200 records of company information.

In August 2004, the access file size now shows 32 Megs, but
there are only 240 records extra.

Why is this, did something go wrong or do I have to change
something ?

Please help.

you need to compact your database regularly
(Tools/Database Utilities/Compact and Repair)
in newer versions of Access (2000 +), you can set it up to be done
automagically (tools/options/general/compact on close)

Access files do grow in normal use, and should be compacted regularly.
One thing that will greatly increase the file size, though, is storing
images in OLE Object fields. Do you store pictures in your database?

Sir,

There are no imgaes, only simple text, numbers, and words.

Perhaps since there has been no compacting, it should be carried out.

thanks.
