Access merge to Word 2002 'Word 2002 required error'

I am running Office XP professional and am trying to merge it with Mircrosft
Word and I get error Mircrosoft Word 2002 is required to run the mail merge
wizard. I am running Word 2002. I have reinstalled Word, run office update.
Notice there is an error ACC2002 in support files but no fix. Can anyone
help.

Many thanks for your test this did work on my pc but I still cannot get my
own data to work is there a way I can copy your easy merge form? Sorry very
new to access so possible something simple that I am not doing right.

Sorry have now followed your full instruction and have single merge working
in my application but will still only work if word is already open, is there
a fix for this. Thank you so much for your help.

Good. At least we are making head way.

The first question would be when you try the sample download, does it
correctly start and launch word? (so, does my sample launch word if word is
not running?). Give the sample download a try, and make sure it works. There
is NO use trying to get your application to work if the sample one does not.

So, test and see if the sample works. And test and see if the sample
launches word.

We are taking about a standard mdb file that is just placed in a standard
local folder....right?
