access not accepting blank date

blank dates keep getting converted to 1/1/4501 when i hard set them from my
application?
Any workaround...where it will just set them as Blanks..or nothing.
field is a date/time (DATEDUE), which is in shortformat

figured it out.....i had a saving problem from my application....converted
them to blank
