Access not responding after moving a field, changing size, etc.

Whenever I make any changes in a report, access takes a looooonnnnggg time to
respond. I have cleaned, defraged hard drive, compacted and repaired
databases, and repaired the installation to no avail. Adding a line, resizing
a field, etc. is becoming a very painful and time-consuming process. Any
suggestions?

What Access version? Do you have all service packs installed?

Turn off Name Autocorrect in Tools... Options, for one thing; it's also
helpful to turn off all Subdatasheets (set them all to None), though that
shouldn't affect this particular problem.

I have Access2007 from Office Pro, and I have MS updates on auto, so I think
I have all the service packs updated.
