Access on a Server

I am totally new to this part of Access and hope someone can help. I have
just created a database in Acess 2007, I need to put this database on a
server so that more than one person can use the database. What steps would I
take so that each user can access the database without having to add Access
to each user's computer. I am thinking I am suppose to split the database,
but I don't really know what to do from that point in order for the user to
open up the front end to start working. i read up on it and it says
something about putting a copy for each user but I'm lost.

Also, the server does not run any windows based programs I believe it is
running something called Novell (not sure if that's right), so the database
can be put on the server but the program itself cannot (that's what the IT
dude told me). What do I do regarding this?

Any help would be appreciated. All of this part is totally foriegn to me

So all I have to do is split the database and then download the runtime on
each computer and it will work? Or do I even have to split the database,
can I just download the runtime instead? Will it still work even though it
is just the database residing on the server, but the program is not installed
on the server.

This is what the IT guy told me that he could put the database it's self on
the server, but cannot install Access 2007. This part is way over my head,
but he doesn't seem to be familiar with it either.

Definitely you need to split the database, whether you're using the
run-time, or each user has the commercial version of Access. Not only that,
but each user should have his/her own copy of the front-end, preferably on
his/her hard drive.

Access does not have to be installed on the server.
