Access Open Behavior

The open behavior for my database was set to not allow any menus or editing
functionality. i.e. When I open my database the only thing I can click is
the switchbaord menu. No toolbar, no settings, no right click. I need to
adjust these settings. Does anyone know how to override this?

Hold the SHIFT key while opening the database.
