Hi Laurence,

can you give a bit more information.......

- What version of Access?
- What Operating System?
- What is the spec of the Laptop?
- Does the error occur when you open Access or a specific
database?

Chas
Access 97 (I guess, its the Microsoft Office 97
Professional Edition).
Windows 2000
Toshiba Tecra, S1. Intel pentium M 1.4GHz, 216 mb mem plus
additional 516 mb.

Is that enough on the laptop?

Error occurs when trying to open a database & when trying
to open Access

Thanks

Hi Laurence,

There is a known bug in Access 97 with computers with more
than 1GB of RAM giving this error. I know you 'only' have
732MB but it's pretty close so may be associated. The fix
for this is to update the version of JET used by Access so
it's probably worth you doing this just in case. You can
get to the fix through the link below:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=172733
(ACC97: Updated Version of Microsoft Jet 3.5 Available for
Download)

I have also seen similar problems in the past if there are
problems with the Windows TEMP folder being too full of
files or invalid or if there is not enough free disk space.

Chas,
Many thanks - worked after I installed the patches you
directed me to.
