Access Pivot Chart - can't drag and drop fields

Hello.
I can't drag and drop fields from the Chart Field List into the Series,
Categories etc. boxes. As soon as I select a field, I get a circle with a
line through it indicating I can't drag the field.
Any tips much appreciated !
