"Access privileges" for Chart Objects in Word 2003

I have been editing the same chart in a word doc for months. Suddenly, I get
the following message when I try to edit it:
Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges.
Even worse, when I create a NEW chart object in a NEW document, I get the
same problem. I can edit the document text just fine. I am the only one who
opens this document and it is not on a network.

A couple of quick checks that may resolve this. Firstly, try reregistering
Word in Windows by using Start, Run and typing in

winword /r

and pressing Enter. If that doesn't help, try running Detect and Repair
(under the Help menu). If that doesn't work, if you have Norton Anti Virus,
uncheck the Office Plug-in under Advanced Options in NAV.
