access problems, please help.

When i have an MS Access data base open, i cannot open
another one with out attempting to close the current DB.
Then i have to close it by going to the task manager. Any
info would be great.Why cant i have multiple data bases
open? Why cant i close a data bases and reopen it without
having to close it in task manager?
